Printed foamex wall display project for
Manchester Phoenix VIP lounge
This project required 4 wall surfaces to be clad with branded 5mm thick
foamex panels. An 8ft high timber framework was constructed onto which
the printed foamex panels could be fixed. The artwork took into
consideration corner joins and wall edges to produce a visually flowing
design. The design was split into 12 sections at artwork stage, then
printed with full colour images on a large format UV printing press.
Each panel is UV cured during the print process making them instantly
dry. The printed foamex panel is then placed onto a computerised
cutting table and accurately trimmed to all 4 edges making them ready
to be placed together. The preferred fitting method for this project
was to pin the foamex to the framework. Each panel was slightly raised
to allow for imperfections in the floor, with a skirting board fixed
over the top. The printed foamex panels were butted together to
give a seamless finish and flowing design. A Stanley knife was used on
site to trim the excess print from the extreme right hand panel, foamex
is a rigid material but soft enough to cut easily. The end result is an
impressive visual wall display 8 feet high by a total width of 47 feet.

Foamex related products
serve a wide variety of uses. For instance stunning Picture walls can
be created such as in the Ronaldo image shown (see picture lower down this
page). These can
then be fixed
by using screws, pin guns, glue, adhesive tapes or Velcro.
Foamex header panels can be used in retail and commercial environments
to highlight product information. Foamex can be cut to shape and is
rigid enough to create free standing objects such as in the example
shown of a ‘Wheel of Fortune” (see picture lower down this page).
Temporary directional signage is a popular choice for foamex as its
weather resistant properties are ideal for the British climate! Foamex
is widely used in Retail POS activity, its durability making it a good
long term value for money choice (see picture lower down this page).
Digitally printed foamex is an ideal way to produce temporary foamex hoardings to
clad vacant store fronts, as seen in this recent Christmas display in
Leicester. Printed in sections the foamex hoardings were fitted by
Kingfisher’s team of experts ensuring a first rate job. The
finished foamex display transforms the High Street and is a powerful
way of communicating with the public (see picture lower down this page).

Applications
for foamex include POS,
Signage, Mounting Substrate and Exhibition panels. Foamex is an
extruded, closed cell, rigid PVC foam sheet with a smooth semi matt
surface finish. Foamex comes in various thicknesses from 1mm to
aprox 10mm thick in sheet sizes up to 3mt x 2mt.
Kingfisher Graphics can print direct to the surface of foamex
on a UV flat bed printer. Foamex can be drilled and routed as
well as cut by drag blade on Kingfisher Graphics computerised cutting
table. Foamex is also suitable for folding, thermoforming, hot
air welding and hot plate welding.
Foamex
comes in various grades and is also known Rigid Foam PVC and Foamalux.
Most grades of Foamex are
class 1 fire rated making them ideal for exhibition panels at trade
shows. Kingfisher Graphics can print foamex sheets up to 3
metres by 2 metres in one pass. Kingfisher Graphics also have the
ability to print white allowing the use of coloured sheets of foamex.
