In the example above fluted display board was used to create POS / FSDU towers standing nearly 2 metres tall. The four sided towers were printed on a UV flatbed printing press in two sections with a slot and tab system enabling the sides to lock together to form the four sided tower. Highly stable and light to move, these cardboard FSDU towers are a powerful method of advertising for short term promotions. Fluted board was used in this cardboard engineering project to provide the strength for each face of the tower to remain rigid. Special attention was given to the direction of the flute which is essential in providing a stable structure. Printing the tower in one piece was not practical for board size reasons and for packaging. The UV flatbed printing process allows for high quality full colour print. The ink is instantly dried during the print and curing process allowing for the board to be cut and creased on a computerised cutting table. Once cut and creased it’s into the custom made cardboard packaging box ready for despatch. Box arrives via next day courier Open box to reveal graphics in kit form with fitting instructions Fold the tabs Join the structure by securing the tabs into the slots. Carry the lightweight structure to a suitable location Admire your display! Cardboard engineering is a good solution for courier transportation as it is lightweight. Our UV large format presses allow for large sheets of fluted card to be printed in one pass, then cut, creased and folded to shape. This enables lightweight but rigid constructions to be engineered as in the "toblerone" -3 sided design shown here. Fixings such as velcro secure the sides together. The result is an eye catching advertising message which is lightweight and recyclable.
